We spent Labor day weekend at Mamere's and Pops and Merrin had a great time, she had so much fun exploring the new house and playing with their dog Basil. We also took her swimming for the first time and she loved it! We tried to take her to the beach which is about a minute away but she fell asleep along the way and would not get up to take pictures so we will have to do that next time.
On that weekend Joey's beloved Grandmother Mawms passed away, we watched her struggle with Alzheimer's over the years and now she is at peace with Pawps. We are so sad that Merrin was not able to meet her Great Grandparents, I know that they would have adored her and she would have definitely loved them, they were truly two very special people. I know one of the things I loved about Joey's family was they would all get together on Sunday's at his Grandparents house for lunch, Mawms would cook a ton of food and we would eat and just sit around and talk for hours. Joey's cousin Gerald and Missy are now carrying on the tradition and during football season they have everyone over for fabulous food and drinks and Saints football. We are loving that Merrin will now get to experience everyone being together.
