Life with our Merrin

We are loving life with our Merrin! It is really hard to remember what we did before Merrin, well except sleeping a lot more! We are so in love with this little girl, she has stolen the hearts of me her Dad and her big Sister. She adores Meghan and it is so cute to watch them together. She is amazing and she constantly makes us laugh. Merrin has learned how to shake her head no no, she waves bye bye, claps and will give you kisses and also can give a high five. She is walking a lot and I have lost count after 20 steps. She still crawls and loves to be carried which I love, I am not ready for her to be totally walking on her own. Merrin still loves to dance and still adores her music, when took her to her first Mass she was singing right along! Our first month at home was filled with visitors, going to birthday parties and just hanging out as a family. We waited so long for this precious girl and I feel blessed everyday that she is in our lives, she is everything to us and we love her so much! Enjoy the pictures!

Merrin's 1st birthday

August 2, 2009

Merrin celebrated her first birthday with a few family members so that she wasn't overwhelmed as she gets used to all of us. She had on a beautiful pink dress that her Aunt Lisa gave her and she looked like a little angel. In typical New Orleans tradition, she had a doberge cake for her birthday.

She seems to be adjusting rather quickly to her home, family, and of course Nola (the rescued family cat from Katrina). Initially Nola wasn't too happy that Joey and Wendy left her for 2 solid weeks and then brought another daughter into the house! Imagine, Nola has to share "bed space" with Merrin:) They seem to be getting along alot better after those first 24 hours.

Merrin surely knew that Meghan was her sister and immediately went right into her arms:) Merrin loves to babble, dance, and it is just a matter of time before she starts walking.

Enjoy the pictures.

Home, sweet, home

Excitement filled the NOLA airport as a huge welcome home group was there to meet Joey, Wendy and Merrin. As anxious as the adults were, it was so much fun watching all the children wait for "baby Merrin". We were all so happy when we saw them come down that concourse! Merrin was a real trooper and let everyone take pictures of her, kiss her hands, and pat her back. But again, the children stole the show:)

It started when little Caleb Wild ( Wendy is Caleb's nanny) starting calling out Wendy's name in hopes of seeing her. When he spotted Wendy and Merrin, Caleb's expression was priceless. He said that Merrin is his best friend ever and he was thrilled to have "his Wendy" back home.

Then Merrin immediately smiled at her cousins Cullen, Katie, Zoe, and Luke. She smiled and laughed at them and even touched Cullen's face. Zoe and Luke were expert photographers taking pictures with their Nintendo DSi. It is obvious that Merrin loves to be around other children.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime expereince that no of us will forget. Welcome Home!

Love, Mamere

(I'm writing these blogs as Wendy is having trouble with her computers and we knew you wanted updates!)
